Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and
Black History Month
This year marks the 40th year our nation has commemorated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King as a national holiday. King devoted his life to the Civil Rights Movement, advocating nonviolence. His work markedly contributed to desegregation and the passing of the Civil Rights Act. As we continue to honor Dr. King and his contributions, we also acknowledge the contributions of other civil rights activists and leaders as we celebrate Black History Month. Take a moment with us to honor Dr. King's legacy by following MLK across North Carolina and commemorate the contributions of African Americans and others who were part of the movement to secure equality and justice for all.
