Remembering Irvin Henderson

Franklin-Vance-Warren Opportunity, Inc. honors the life and legacy of Irvin Henderson, whose commitment to historic preservation, community development, mentorship, and African American history left a lasting impact on communities and the people he served.
In a special tribute published by The Carolinian, Henderson is remembered as a passionate preservationist who dedicated his life's work to saving historic structures and preserving communities.
“We lost a giant in the preservation world. But his legacy lives on in all of us who he encouraged on a daily basis to keep fighting and keep pushing.”
The tribute closes with a powerful message honoring the responsibility Henderson leaves with the next generation:
“Irvin, you have planted the seeds and given us the tools to keep your garden growing. We honor you.”
FVW joins all those whose lives and communities were touched by Irvin Henderson in remembering his extraordinary legacy of service, leadership, mentorship, and preservation.

Accounts Payable Clerk (Part-Time)
Franklin-Vance-Warren Opportunity, Inc. is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to manage outgoing payments, vendor invoices, and financial record keeping. This is a professional staff position working less than 25 hours per week.
Qualifications:

Minimum one year of accounting or business administration coursework beyond high school

Knowledge of basic accounting principles, specifically Accounts Payable
-
Familiarity with federal and state funding guidelines is a plus
-
Ability to use financial software systems, spreadsheets, and email applications

Strong time management skills and attention to detail
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team
Duties & Responsibilities:
-
Invoice Processing – Receive, verify, process, and schedule invoices; obtain approvals; allocate funds correctly; prepare vendor payments while complying with financial policies.

Vendor Management – Maintain vendor records, reconcile statements, and resolve payment discrepancies.
-
Record Keeping – Maintain accurate and organized records of all invoices, reports, receipts, and payment transactions.
